Uranium

Uranium is a chemical element with the symbol U and atomic number 92. It is a dense, silvery-white metal that is weaker than gold, with high radioactivity. Uranium is found in nature primarily in the form of several isotopes, the most prevalent of which are uranium-238 and uranium-235. The latter isotope is notable for its ability to sustain a nuclear chain reaction, making uranium a critical material for nuclear power generation and atomic bombs. Because of its radioactivity, uranium emits alpha particles and can be hazardous to health if ingested or inhaled. It is primarily used as a fuel in nuclear reactors and for the production of nuclear weapons. Additionally, uranium has applications in geology and research, particularly in dating rocks and minerals.
