Uganda

Uganda is a landlocked country located in East Africa. It is bordered by Kenya to the east, South Sudan to the north, the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west, Rwanda to the southwest, and Tanzania to the south. The country is named after the Kingdom of Buganda, which is located in the region of present-day central Uganda. Uganda’s geography features diverse landscapes, including hills, lakes, and the East African Rift. The capital and largest city is Kampala. The official languages are English and Swahili, and the country has a rich cultural heritage with over 50 distinct ethnic groups. Uganda is known for its biodiversity, including the famous Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and the diverse ecosystems around Lake Victoria. The nation also has a complex history that includes periods of colonialism, political turmoil, and efforts toward reconstruction and development in the post-independence era.
