Rugby

Rugby is a team sport that originated in England in the early 19th century. It is played with an oval-shaped ball on a rectangular field known as a pitch, which has goalposts at each end. The game typically involves two teams, each consisting of 15 players in rugby union or 13 players in rugby league. The primary objective is to score points by carrying the ball over the opposing team’s goal line and grounding it for a try or by kicking the ball through the goalposts for a goal. Players can pass the ball laterally or backward, but not forward, and they can tackle opponents to gain possession of the ball. Rugby emphasizes teamwork, physicality, and strategy, making it a dynamic and competitive sport. Variants of rugby, including sevens and touch rugby, have emerged, each with its own set of rules and player counts.
