Premier League

The Premier League is the top tier of professional football (soccer) in England. It was founded in 1992, replacing the Football League First Division as the highest division of English football. The league features 20 teams, which compete in a system of promotion and relegation with the English Football League (EFL). Each team plays 38 matches in a season, facing every other team twice, once at home and once away. The league operates on a points system, where teams earn three points for a win, one point for a draw, and none for a loss. The team with the most points at the end of the season is crowned the champion. The Premier League is known for its high level of competition, its global fanbase, and significant financial impact, including lucrative television broadcasting rights.
