Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each, on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The objective of the game is to score goals by advancing a ball into the opposing team’s goal primarily using any part of the body except the arms and hands. The game is governed by rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB).

Football is known by different names in various regions; for example, in the United States and Canada, it is often referred to as “soccer.” However, “football” is the preferred term globally and is the most popular sport, with billions of fans and players worldwide. It is governed internationally by FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), which organizes events such as the World Cup, the sport’s premier international competition.

The game emphasizes teamwork, strategy, and skill, and has a rich history with significant cultural importance in many countries. Variations of the sport exist, including association football (the mainstream version), American football, rugby football, and others, each with its own distinct rules and objectives.
