Soccer

Soccer, also known as football in most countries outside North America, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a ball into the opposing team’s net using any part of the body except the arms and hands (goalkeepers are an exception). The game is played on a rectangular field called a pitch, typically grass or artificial turf, with goals at either end.

Soccer is governed by Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) at the international level, which organizes major tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup. The sport is played in various forms worldwide, with professional leagues, youth and amateur levels. Matches are divided into two halves, and the team with the most goals at the end wins. If the score is tied, the match may end in a draw or proceed to extra time or penalty shootouts, depending on the competition rules.

Soccer is the most popular sport globally, with millions of fans and players, and it has significant cultural and economic impacts in many regions. It promotes teamwork, physical fitness, and strategic thinking.
