Football

Football, in its most common usage, refers to a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each, primarily known for its association with the game governed by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). It is played on a rectangular field with a goal at each end, and the objective is to score by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s goal.

The game is characterized by its use of the feet to control and kick the ball, hence the name “football.” Players are not allowed to use their hands or arms to touch the ball, except for the goalkeepers within their penalty area. The match is typically played in two halves of 45 minutes, with a halftime interval, and the team that scores the most goals wins the match.

Football has a wide global appeal and is considered the most popular sport worldwide. Variations of football exist, including association football (soccer), American football, and rugby football, each with its own specific rules and formats.
